Blocking Skill
Blocking is a skill in Valheim that gets unlocked the first time you try to block an enemy attack. Blocking can be gained by blocking attacks either with a weapon or a shield with the default key of right click. Blocking will mitigate some damage from the enemy attack depending on what you are blocking with.
Blocking in Valheim drains your stamina, so be careful not to wear all your stamina away in a fight leaving yourself defenseless. Also how much damage you block is determined by your shield armor. Every shield has a "blocking power" stat, that determines the maximum amount of damage you can block with each hit.
Effects of leveling up blocking skill
- +.5% block power per blocking level for +50% block power at level 100 (max level)
The amount of additional damage blocked is a percentage based upon your shield. For example, a shield with 100 blocking power will block an additional .5 damage per level and at level 100 blocking the shield would block for 150 blocking power instead of its base value of 100.
