Yakuza: Like a Dragon Romance Workshop

The romance workshop in Yakuza: Like a Dragon gets unlocked fairly early into the story. Here you can bring crafting materials and, at the cost of some yen, you can craft new weapons and armor. You can also upgrade current weapons using the same materials. Some weapon types cannot be upgraded at the romance workshop and upgrading them to max level will take an upgrdae or two to the workshop itself.

Using the romance workshop is a great way to keep your stats up as you progress through the game, without having to power level as much. There's even a vendor that sells crafting materials for yen. Enemies also drop random crafting materials, but it's a really long grind to get enough.

The Romance Workshop in the Commercial District:

If you're looking for the Romance Workshop, it can be found in the commercial district. The first time coming here will activate a cutscene where the owner, Sumire, explains the situation of the Romance Workshop. It's been a family business that's not doing so well. It's up to Ichiban to donate money and build this place up again.

You can find the Romance Workshop in the commercial district just south of the jobs building.

Where to buy crafting materials in Yakuza: Like a Dragon

You can actually buy crafting materials. There's a small vendor right next to the Dragon Kart mini game that sells all the basic building materials in the game. If you have yen, then you can just buy crafting materials. You can find them at the shop below.

The general goods cart will get you most of the materials you need for the romance workshop. Unfortunately, the super rare materials can only be obtained from the world or enemies. You won't find platinum ore, silver ingots, gold ingots, pearls, raw ruby ores, raw sapphire ores, and raw diamonds from the general goods cart. You may find some of these in dungeons, we'll update this page if we confirm drop locations for the more rare materials.

Strengthening weapons at the Romance Workshop in Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Unfortunately you can only power up weapons at the workshop. These upgrades however are very nice. If you find a weapon that's really powerful, check to see if Sumire can upgrade it. If you take an already powerful weapon and upgrade it, you might end up with an extremely powerful weapon. Strengthening weapons is a great way to beat the game more easily. Doing more damage helps a lot. You'll need a higher level workshop to upgrade weapons to their full potential, so start saving yen when you can, or beat the management minigame for early game money.

If you chat with Sumire she'll ask for bonsai. You can buy these at Hamakita park.
