As part of our comprehensive Borderlands 4 Guides, Ancient Crawlers in Borderlands 4 are massive abandoned vehicles turned enemy outposts on Kairos, each featuring a puzzle to power them up for 40 SDU Tokens and vehicle kits. There are 11 Ancient Crawlers total, scattered across regions like The Fadefields (e.g., Slugmetal Ditch), Hungering Plain (e.g., The Roaming Pasture), and others in Terminus Range and Carcadia Burn—completing them all unlocks the Ruler of Everything achievement.

To solve a Crawler puzzle, mark the icon on your map to follow the path to the objective, then clear out nearby enemies like Rippers or Order forces. Pick up the highlighted power node or small container (blue marker), and carry or throw it to the console at the top—climb using grapple points, stairs, or platforms. For example, in Slugmetal Ditch, grab the container under the tower and throw it at the base console to release clamps; in The Roaming Pasture, haul the power node up the central machine's stairs. Once activated, the Crawler powers on, granting rewards and marking nearby collectibles.
