Conan Exiles thrall enslavement/crafting guide
In Conan Exiles players can enslave NPC's called "thralls" using special buildings called wheels of pain. With these items players can hunt down hostile NPC's, knock them out with blunt weapons, and drag them back to the wheels. From this point enslaving the thrall is a crafting process. Players put food into the wheel and turn it on, like they would with wood in a campfire.
There are many different kinds of thralls in Conan Exiles. On top of that, they come in up to four different levels. The higher the number on the thrall, the better it is.
Thralls also come in varieties, such as archer, fighter, armorer, and so on. In order to summon an Avatar in Conan Exiles players need to capture a priest for whichever religion they're trying to summon from.
Thralls are an extremely useful resource in Conan Exiles that allow players to fortify bases, craft new and special items, and accelerate crafting speeds at certain stations. Thralls are the backbone of a fully functioning society inside of Conan Exiles.
How to enslave/craft thralls in Conan Exiles
In Conan Exiles players must unlock the "thrall taker" crafting recipe in the player inventory. With that they can craft a truncheon, fiber bindings, and a lesser wheel of pain. These three items and food are the minimum requirements for crafting thralls.
Players need to use the truncheon to knock a thrall out. Be careful when doing this because on too many hits will take the thrall from unconscious, to dead, and there's no way to enslave a dead thrall.
Next players need to equip fiber bindings into the bar at the bottom. Once equipped and selected they can walk up to an unconscious thrall and hit "E" on the keyboard (default key) to bind them as seen above. From there players have a limited amount of time to drag them back to their wheel of pain. Once players have made it back to the wheel of pain, they can look at it and press "E" (default key) on their keyboard to put the thrall into the lesser wheel of pain.
Feeding thralls to enslave them.
In order to break the thralls in Conan Exiles for use, players need to basically craft them on the wheel of pain. Players insert food with the thrall and turn the wheel of pain on. From there it takes a certain amount of time to break them, after which they'll be available for pickup in the wheel of pain.
Any food that players can eat can be used to break the thralls. The best food in the game for breaking thralls however is gruel. In order to make gruel players can convert 5 plant fiber and 1 seed into 10 gruel at a campfire. This is made the same way as cooked meat, just insert wood into a camp fire with the ingredients and turn it on to make gruel.
Different thralls take different amounts of time to break. The best thralls in the game can take what feels like hours to break and enslave on the wheel of pain. Once enslaved, thralls act as items which can be picked up into the player inventory and set down wherever the player chooses.
Where to find thralls in Conan Exiles
Players can find thralls all over the world in Conan Exiles. There are small thrall camps all over the world. There are also cases where players can find a few thralls by lone bonfires.
Generally players must venture much further north to find good thralls. The thralls in the southern area of the map are much weaker and generally only level 1 or 2.
These camps usually have wooden boxes in them as well which have a few lootable resources such as iron, stone, plant fiber and others.
Be mindful of where nearby thrall camps are when placing a base. Thralls wake up from their unconscious state after 6 minutes (default time).
Types of thralls in Conan Exiles
In Conan Exiles there are quite a few varieties of thralls, each with their own purpose. Armorer thralls can be placed at armorer's benches to increase crafting speed and in some cases to unlock special crafting recipes. The same goes for blacksmith thralls, cooks, and so on.
The most unique thralls are dancers. These are rare and highly sought after because they give temporary buffs, as well as remove corruption. Players get corruption by visiting the cursed city near the center of the map. The more time players spend in the city the more corruption they get. Corruption decreases players maximum stats. So in other words, a dancer is required in order for players to venture into the city.
Again, players need priest thralls for their specific religion in order to summon avatars. Players actually need an item in order to summon an avatar, and the priest unlocks the ability to craft this item. Players also need a tier 3 altar.
There are also thralls for base defense. These include thrall archers and thrall fighters. With enough thralls defending a base, it can be quite difficult to raid.
Lastly there are taskmaster thralls. These thralls can be used at wheels of pain to decrease the amount of time it takes to break in a thrall. These thralls are extremely useful in the long run.
How to place and use thralls
In order to use thralls, players need to place them in the appropriate place. Every crafting station has slots in its menu to the bottom right for thralls.
Once a thrall has been broken, players can pick them up from the wheel of pain like really heavy items. From there they can be put into crafting stations, or for some thralls, placed on the ground like objects. Archers, fighters, and dancers may be placed on the ground wherever the player finds appropriate.
That covers most of the basics of Conan Exiles thrall enslavement. Thralls are one of the best, if not the best part of this video game. Hopefully the answer you were looking for was in this Conan Exiles thrall guide.
